The Canadian Wildlife Federation attended the International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC), an event that brings together major maritime stakeholders from around the globe to assist in the conservation and sustainable development of the oceans. We brought our video camera along to report back to you!

Founding fellow of CWF’s Learning Institute, Dr. Grant Gardner was part of the Introductory Plenary Session that set the stage for the Congress. 

CWF took centre stage as Dr. Sean Brillant, Manager of Marine Programs and Christine Kelly, Manager of Education … hosted three sessions in the Ocean+ Pavilion. At each session, Sean and Christine conducted lively and informative interviews that showcased CWF programs that Connect, Engage and Inspire marine conservation.

CWF Director of Education Dr. Luba Mycio-Mommers chaired the workshop Raising awareness of the role of MPAs in ocean conservation and sustainable development. The workshop presented a lively discussion with the goal of advancing capacity building for actions and recommendations that can help to raise awareness of the role of MPAs in ocean conservation and sustainable development. Presenting at the workshop was Dr. Sean Brillant, CWF Marine Manager on Increasing Audience Reach to Recreational Regional Users of Marine Environments

Dr. Yves Jean showcased the new CWF and TeleQuebec six part French documentary series Sur le St. Laurent during the Short Films session at the congress.
