This webinar includes an overview of the Spring and Fall mowing maps to guide safe dates when mowing is unlikely to directly impact monarch butterflies. You will see how the interactive Rights-of-Way Restoration Dashboard presents potential restoration sites and how it can support tracking your progress. You will also learn of the results of CWF's Habitat Suitability Modelling in Southern Ontario which will help identify priority restoration sites for improving Monarch habitat.

Action for Pollinators

Bees, flies, butterflies, moths, beetles, hummingbirds and even small mammals are pollinators, meaning they carry pollen on their bodies and move it between flowers. This almost invisible act occurs millions of times each day and creates a third of our food. It also sustains the native plants and habitats on which humans and wildlife depend.

Canada’s native prairie grasslands are an extraordinary component of our natural heritage. This habitat, with its dry grasses waving in the prairie wind, carries visions of the millions of thundering hooves of the Plains Bison that once roamed across the Great Plains of North America. It is a landscape resilient to extremes of drought and cold.

Rights-of-Way Habitat Networks

Across North America, pollinator populations are declining and loss of meadow wildflower habitat is a primary reason for this decline. Rights-of-Way (roadsides, utility corridors, solar farms) offer a unique opportunity for supporting pollinators.
