gctr turtle header

Leatherbacks have the most extensive geographic range of any reptile. They are found in the tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans, with a range that extends from approximately 71ºN to approximately 47ºS. The species nests on islands in the Caribbean and the Indo-Pacific, and on every continent except Europe and Antarctica. Nesting areas are largely confined to tropical latitudes, with major nesting colonies in the Atlantic in Gabon, Trinidad, French Guiana, Suriname Panama and Colombia; and in the Pacific in Mexico, Costa Rica, Indonesia and the Solomon Islands.
