Dan Frawley is a Canadian former National Hockey League (NHL) player and Indigenous community leader from Nipissing First Nation in Ontario. A right winger known for his toughness, leadership, and team-first style, he played parts of eight seasons in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks and the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1980s, appearing in more than 270 games. Earlier in his career he won the 1981 Memorial Cup with the Cornwall Royals and went on to enjoy a long professional career in the American Hockey League, where he became a fan favorite and leader with the Rochester Americans and helped the team capture the 1996 Calder Cup. Following his playing career, Frawley has remained active in community leadership and youth mentorship, particularly in Indigenous communities, where he has supported hockey development, leadership training, and positive pathways for young people through sport. Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) Education program as the Indigenous Inclusion Specialist, where he provided instruction to 40 -50 youth education specialists on recruiting and working with Indigenous youth and communities. He provided contact information on Elders in communities that he was familiar with to the Education group from 2021 until 2025. Still involved with the little NHL of which there are now 350 teams of Indigenous youth in Ontario.
