Canadian Wildlife Federation and Lanark County co-host Native Milkweed Collection and Planting Event
- WHEN: Saturday, September 16th from 1:00 - 4:00 PM Remarks to take place from 1:00 1:30 PM followed by a photo opportunity and instructional harvesting and planting session.
- WHAT: Join the Canadian Wildlife Federation and partner Lanark County, at the Lanark County municipal office grounds to take part in a hands-on native milkweed seed collection and planting event. This special event will recognize the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s three-year Grow Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation in supporting rights-of-way organizations, such as Lanark County, in implementing pollinator friendly approaches to corridor management.
- WHY: Attendees will learn the significance of restored meadow habitat, particularly the role of milkweed, the host plant of the iconic monarch butterfly, while collecting and planting native seeds on site.
