CWF Invites Nominations for Canadian Conservation Achievement Awards

OTTAWA, Ont. Nov. 29, 2023 – The Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) is now inviting nominations for several national conservation awards.

 “Nominate your nature heroes now and celebrate wildlife conservation with us,” said Rick Bates, CEO of CWF. “This is an opportunity to showcase volunteers and professionals in communities across Canada who are committed to conservation through a wide range of initiatives and approaches.” 

Categories include:

  • Conservation in Action: Individual who has demonstrated commitment to conservation through activities that further the conservation of Canada’s natural resources
  • Conservation Through Fisheries: Individual who has made a contribution to furthering the sport of angling and/or the conservation, development and wise use of Canada’s recreational fisheries is eligible for this award
  • Canadian Legislators in Action: Individual who is a provincial, territorial, or federal elected legislator who has made a significant contribution to the conservation of wildlife
  • Outstanding Affiliate Conservation Project: Any conservation project that was completed during the previous year by any Canadian Wildlife Federation affiliate, its clubs, or its members
  • Canadian Outdoorsperson of the Year: Any Canadian outdoorsperson who has demonstrated an active commitment to conservation in Canada
  • Youth in Action: Any Canadian youth or youth group who have participated in a wildlife or habitat conservation project, or activity
  • Conservation Mentors: Any individual or group who has made significant contribution in creating or presenting programs that are dedicated toward Youth
  • Conservation in the Arts: Any individual or group that brings awareness to conservation through an artistic means
  • Wild Educator of the Year: Any WILD Education facilitator or instructor who utilizes CWF’s education programming to provide meaningful experiences for youth

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 31, 2024. The awards will be announced by Canada Day. 

Recipients may be featured in an upcoming issue of Canadian Wildlife and Biosphère magazine and they will be invited to receive their award at CWF’s awards banquet, currently planned for New Brunswick in mid June.
